We Are Pleased to Welcome Our New
“Associate Pastor for Youth, Culture and Mission”
Pastor Benjamin Aaron Morris

Born in 1981, Ben was raised in southeast Michigan, graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in History (2005) and from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa with a Master of Divinity (2010).  For one year between college and seminary he served as the Youth Director at St. Phillips Lutheran Church in Trenton, Michigan.  He served as Pastor of Good Samaritan in Pontiac from August 2010 to May 2011.

His coursework at Wartburg included a formally designed and recognized concentration (15 credit hours) in Youth, Culture and Mission.  As described by the school, “This concentration serves as an academic preparation for service in the church in youth and family ministry” framing these ministries, “within the larger context of the cultures of youth and the mission of the Christian gospel”.   In addition to youth, culture and mission, Ben’s areas of strength and experience include multicultural ministry, small group ministry, evangelism and mission, innovation, creativity and teaching.  He also has a “passion for preaching”.

Ben studied for one year in Nuendettelsau, Germany and interned at Hope Lutheran, St. John’s Episcopal Mission church located on the Leech Lake Ojibwe (Minnesota Chippewa) reservation.

Ben and his wife, Jenni joined us in September 2011, reside in the white house next to the church and love the outdoors.
